![]() Gary experienced an idyllic childhood, one filled with fishing, whittling, boondoggling and generous amounts of denim. From his earliest days, Gary felt strongly drawn to Native American mysticism and spirituality. When he was a chi-ood he built his own sweatlodges and would re-enact Shamanistic healing rituals whenever his parents fell ill with the flu, food poisoning or other common ailments. It wasn't until later, however, that Gary discovered the healing & rejuvenation powers of "acting." When Guntlove Sr. was diagnosed with cancer, Gary would spend most every day at the hospital bringing scenes from the film 'Roadhouse' to life. Soon, the cancer became gone and Gary's destiny was clear. Gary further honed his love of acting by studying theater at GAPA, The Greely Academy of Performing Arts. He threw himself headlong into his studies & even tried his hand at teaching, leading a three month summer session on Patrick Swayze's Influence on Gender Politics. Before long he would earn a degree in Drama, with an emphasis on mascot work. But Gary knew that Greely could only take his talents so far, and that the bright lights of Los Angeles beckoned. The transition was not easy and Gary soon yearned for the comforts of home. His fortunes would change, though, when he was chosen to perform his one- man show 'Bant stop, won't stop' at Knotsberry Farm in the fall of 2005. After his show garnered stellar reviews, Gary was commissioned to stage his second one-man show, a semi-factual tale of a Colorado man caught in an endless cycle of inner-city violence called 'Niggah Pleats!," at a local high school. In the audience opening night was an ambitious gentleman by the name of Daniel Stessen, who had come to see what all the buzz was about. Mr. Stessen was impressed by what he saw and invited Gary to join his art collective, People-Food. Within People-Food Gary would find a supportive community, endless creative inspiration, and the ingredients for YoGunt (strawberries, chocolate covered raisins, and strawberry-banana yogurt). He feels very blessed to be surrounded by people who share his love for the outdoors, denim, antlers, and denim antlers. Gary would also like to thank: Vic Vergat, Gordon Lightfoot, Herbie Mann, Donald Dean, Sabu, Patrick Swayze, Melisa Bezonsky, Eddie Adcock, Ian Summerfall, Miguel Torrente, the designer known only as Mondo, Dr. Otar and James Galway. Gary is a Cancer and his spirit animal is a Bantler: a bat with antlers and a human face. |
